Norway Allocates €44.6 Million for Ukraine's Energy Sector
Norway has contributed €44.6 million to the Fund for Supporting Ukraine's Energy Sector, increasing the total contribution to €209.2 million. The new funding is aimed at strengthening the resilience of Ukraine's energy system, particularly in preparation for the heating season. Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal noted that the fund's resources are being used to purchase necessary equipment for the restoration of damaged facilities and the development of generating capacities. The fund was established in the spring of 2022 to attract resources to counter the effects of Russian attacks on energy infrastructure. Since its inception, the fund has received over €2 billion in grant funding from 39 foreign sponsors from 26 countries and three international organizations. In May, contracts worth over €25.7 million were signed through the fund for the supply of equipment, which will help prepare the energy system for future challenges.
